International Juniors Tennis Championship Begins in Islamabad Today

A Heart Touches the Court. Young Players From 14 Countries Gather in Islamabad to Honor the Memory of Zainab Ali Naqvi.

Thirty-nine young tennis players are now in Islamabad. They came from 14 different countries to play in this tournament. Some big names include Pakistan, Japan, China, Australia and Russia.

This championship is named after Zainab Ali Naqvi. She loved tennis and had a bright future ahead. But she passed away on February 12, 2024. It happened during a junior match right here in Islamabad. A heart attack took her far too soon.

Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and other tennis officials paid tribute to her. They said Zainab deserved to be remembered. This tournament is their way of doing that. They want every young player here to feel her spirit on the court.
