Foreign Office spokesperson has announced the closure of Pakistani airspace to Indian flights, emphasizing that the armed forces are prepared to ensure national security and defense.
Shafqat Ali Khan stated that India’s recent actions have reaffirmed the validity of the two-nation theory.
Addressing his weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Friday, FO Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan informed journalists about India’s recent decision concerning the water-sharing agreement between the two countries.
The spokesperson stated that India cannot unilaterally revoke the Indus Waters Treaty, and any attempt by India to block Pakistan’s water will be treated as an act of war.
He added that the National Security Committee has given a strong response to India’s actions, and all movement through the Wagah Border has now been suspended. Furthermore, the number of Indian High Commission staff in Pakistan has been reduced to 30.
The spokesperson also confirmed that all visas issued to Indian citizens under the SAARC framework have been suspended, with the exception of Sikh pilgrims, who will not be affected by the visa freeze.
He concluded by saying that India’s actions have reaffirmed the validity of the Two-Nation Theory.
Additionally, the spokesperson confirmed that all traffic at the Wagah border has been suspended, and all Indian visas issued under the SAARC scheme have been revoked, except for those granted to Sikh pilgrims.
Khan also noted that the staff of the Indian High Commission in Pakistan has been reduced to 30 members, reiterating that Pakistani airspace is now closed to Indian flights.
He assured that the armed forces are fully prepared for any national security challenges.
He further remarked that India’s actions have reinforced the two-nation theory and highlighted that Pakistan addressed these issues in the recent National Security Committee meeting.
The Prime Minister also held productive discussions with Turkish leadership during his latest visit to Turkey.
In addition, Khan mentioned that the Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates visited Pakistan, where both sides agreed to enhance cooperation across various sectors.
