India’s Desperate Bid for Redemption, New Playbook of Deception

By: Arshad Mir

It was always on the cards that a desperate and diplomatically cornered India would resort to constructing a false narrative to deflect international scrutiny from its failure to substantiate allegations against Pakistan. Unable to provide credible evidence to the global community, India again falls back on old, worn-out tactics to fuel a narrative that supports its long-standing claims. The arrest of two Kashmiri youths, Parvaiz Ahmad and Bashir Ahmad, in the Pehelgam area is a disturbing example of this strategy.

Arrested by the notorious Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) the youth are accused of harboring militants in a seasonal hut in Pahalgam. However, locals from the region have strongly contested this claim, maintaining that the detained individuals are innocent civilians. Such incidents reveal the systemic use of legal cover to suppress the Kashmiri population and craft a narrative of manufactured militancy.

Even a person with common sense understands that India is desperately looking for something or an excuse regarding the Pahalgam incident that can save its face, cover up its lies, and restore some of its damaged reputation.

The way the Indian media sensationalized the news of the arrest of the aforementioned individuals, made it clear that the Indian government had probably found this pretext.

Since it completely ignored the demands of many, both domestically and internationally, to present irrefutable evidence against Pakistan viz a viz Pehlgam killings, it committed a serious violation of international law by attacking Pakistan under the pretext of this tragedy.

but instead of gaining anything, India lost a lot. It’s lies and weaknesses have got exposed, claim or Conceitedness of superiority got shattered, and above all, the reputation of the Modi government, the army, the media, and the BJP as a party got destroyed.

Now, feeling a deep sense of defeat, they are searching for straws that can pull them out of this whirlpool of humiliation.

Arresting the aforementioned youth in Pahalgam and linking them to the April 22 tragedy is part of this desperation.

Another aspect of this plot could be to play the victim card and create legitimacy for a false flag operation against Pakistan so that some compensation can be made for the defeat of the May war.

Anyway, Modi & Co have elections to fight next. If they didn’t hesitate to throw the region into the hell of nuclear war by attacking Pakistan in 2019 and used the embarrassment of the downing of planes and the capture of the pilot (Abhinandan) as a means of garnering votes, then why can’t they do the same on this occasion, when they are a thousand times more humiliated than in 2019?

This calculated move aligns with India’s broader agenda of waging psychological and political warfare against Pakistan by portraying itself as a victim of cross-border terrorism.

In reality, these actions expose India’s internal failure to manage dissent within Kashmir and its desperation to blame external actors to justify ongoing repression.

The international community must not be misled by these unsubstantiated claims and should demand transparency, accountability, and respect for the rights of the people of Kashmir.

It is essential for the world to be aware of these evils of India, keep its profile in view and take measures to prevent occurrence of a major catastrophe which can only be done by the resolution of lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions and the aspirations of Kashmiri people.
