ISLAMABAD: The Annual General Council Meeting (AGM) of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) was convened at the PTF-SDA Tennis Complex in Islamabad, marking a significant occasion for tennis enthusiasts and officials alike.
Chaired by Senator Salim Saifullah Khan, the President of PTF, the meeting brought together key figures in the tennis community, including Mr. Iftkhar Rashid, Senior Executive Vice President (SEVP) of PTF, Mr. Khawar Hyat Khan, SEVP of PTF, Col. Gul Rehman (Retired), Secretary-General of PTF, Muhammad Khalil Chughtai, Treasurer of PTF, and Mr. Khawaja Suhail, Senior Vice President of PTF. Officials from PTF and representatives from affiliated units also actively participated, contributing to a candid and constructive dialogue.
One of the highlights of the meeting was the announcement by Senator Salim Saifullah Khan that the Indian Davis Cup team would be visiting Pakistan for the first time since 1964. This achievement was hailed as a major diplomatic victory for Pakistan, as it involved overcoming challenges and concerns raised by the All India Tennis Association (AITA). The PTF’s effective lobbying efforts ensured that the decision of the Davis Cup Committee, favoring Pakistan, was upheld despite appeals.
Members expressed their appreciation for President-PTF Senator Salim Saifullah Khan’s exemplary efforts in securing the visit of the Indian team and lauded the federation’s commitment to promoting tennis in the country.
