Inaugural Ceremony of Young Writers’ Program Held at PAL

ISLAMABAD: The inaugural ceremony of a ten-day Inter-Provincial Residential Program for young writers was held on Thursday at the Committee Room of the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL).

The event, organized by the Pakistan Academy of Letters under the National Heritage & Culture Division, began with a Qirat followed by the national anthem of Pakistan.

Hassan Nasir Jamy, Secretary of the National Heritage and Culture Division, addressed the participants and welcomed them. He expressed his delight at attending the ceremony and commended PAL for organizing such an important initiative for creative writers. “I hope all participants will have a great learning experience and make the most of this opportunity,” he said.

Najiba Arif, the Head of Department and Chairperson of PAL, also welcomed the participants, distinguished guests, and media representatives. She highlighted that 20 writers from across the country were selected on merit to participate in the program. Arif emphasized that the initiative aims to foster the promotion of literature and encourage networking and cultural exchange among the diverse group of participants.

Renowned philanthropist and impact entrepreneur Dr. Tariq Habib Cheema also addressed the gathering, urging the writers to contribute to the promotion of literature through their writing.

The ten-day program, which will conclude on January 25, brings together young writers from all four provinces of Pakistan, along with two participants each from Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. The initiative is expected to significantly enhance the interaction between writers from various cultural backgrounds, promoting mutual understanding and the growth of literature in the country.
