Imran Khan’s Sisters and PTI Leaders Detained by Police Outside Adiala Jail
Zartaj Gul Condemns Treatment of Imran Khan and Political Workers
RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi police have detained several leaders and family members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, including his sisters, as they attempted to meet him outside Adiala Jail. The police arrested Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Aleema Khan, Noreen Khan, Uzma Khan, Nadia Khan, and Qasim Khan at the Gorakhpur check post. The family members, along with other PTI leaders, were stopped from entering the jail to visit Imran Khan.
According to reports, the detained individuals were transported in a police van. PTI Chairman Barrister Gauhar and Secretary General condemned the arrests, urging the government to allow PTI leaders to meet Imran Khan as per court orders. PTI leaders had gathered outside Adiala Jail to protest their inability to meet the jailed PTI leader, despite a court ruling permitting the meetings.
Opposition Leader Omar Ayub spoke to the media, stating that they had come to meet Imran Khan with court authorization but were still blocked by the police. He lamented the absence of justice and the rule of law, calling on the courts to ensure the enforcement of their decisions.
PTI leader Zartaj Gul also expressed concerns about the treatment of Imran Khan, revealing that he was not allowed to offer Eid prayers or speak with his sons for the past three months. She condemned the government’s actions, particularly the mistreatment of female political workers. Gul emphasized that the government’s harsh treatment of political workers as terrorists is unjust, and warned that denying meetings with Imran Khan would only worsen the country’s political crisis.
