ILO, WWF agree to enhance cooperation for human development

The Secretary Worker Welfare Fund Zulfiqar Ahmed, Director Education Waseem Afzal Waraich and other officers welcomed the distinguished guest and presented a bouquet of flowers.
The Secretary Worker Welfare Fund Zulfiqar Ahmed briefed International Labor Organization (ILO) Country Director Geir Tonstol about the ongoing projects of Worker Welfare Fund in Pakistan. He explained the sources of income, method of providing funds to workers and the responsibilities of the governing body. He said that Workers Welfare Fund has its network in all four provinces. He briefed on the method of provision of the grant. A grant of 8 lakh rupees is given to the family of a worker who deceased. WWF has built housing projects in all the provinces.
Various schools and hospitals have also been established. He emphasis more new projects of hospitals, schools, vocational training institutes in these areas. He wished to work together with the International Labor Organization (ILO) in various fields including information technology to capacitate the workers so that they can be part of the formal economy and receive the benefits of the Worker Welfare Fund. ILO Country Director Mr. Geir Tonstol thanked the Secretary of the Worker Welfare Fund, Zulfiqar Ahmed and his team.
