IHC’s Audio Leaks Case Proceedings Stopped by Supreme Court
Leaked Audio May Have Been Self-Distributed, Justice Aminuddin Khan Speculates

The Supreme Court, at the federal government’s request, has intervened in the audio leaks case, with Justices Aminuddin Khan and Naeem Akhtar Afghan on the bench. The Court has paused the Islamabad High Court’s proceedings and issued notices to Bushra Bibi and Najamul Saqib, the son of former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar.
The Supreme Court has put a hold on the Islamabad High Court’s orders from May 29 and June 25, directing it to stop proceedings on the audio leaks case. The SC observed that the IHC’s orders seemed to go beyond its authority, as it did not have suo motu powers.
The Supreme Court has also requested the case records. During the hearing, Justice Aminuddin Khan questioned whether the High Court had identified who recorded the audio, to which the additional attorney general replied that this was still under investigation. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan expressed frustration at the lack of progress, noting that attempts by both Parliament and the Supreme Court to uncover the truth have been obstructed.
