ICC Congratulates PCB for Successful Champions Trophy 2025 Hosting
ICC Chairman Thanks Participants and Fans for Champions Trophy Success
DUBAI – The International Cricket Council (ICC) issued a note of thanks to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday for successfully hosting the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, which concluded on Sunday.
The prestigious tournament, marking its return after 2017, was the first ICC event hosted by Pakistan since the 1996 World Cup. The eight-team tournament, featuring 15 matches, took place from February 19 to March 9 at three Pakistani venues – Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. Notably, the eventual champions, India, played all of their matches in Dubai.
In a statement, ICC Chief Executive Geof Allardice praised the PCB for its successful efforts in hosting the tournament, including the renovation of major stadiums and preparation of quality pitches for the matches. He expressed that the PCB should be “very proud” of the successful hosting, recognizing the significant efforts of everyone involved.
“We would like to thank and congratulate the Pakistan Cricket Board for successfully hosting the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025,” said Allardice. “This was the first global multi-team cricket event in Pakistan since 1996, and it was a huge milestone. Those who worked on stadium renovations, pitch preparation, match delivery, and hosting the teams and visitors should be very proud of their work.”
The ICC also expressed gratitude to the Emirates Cricket Board for hosting five of the tournament’s matches in Dubai, continuing to support the ICC in staging major men’s and women’s events.
