Human Trafficking to End Permanently with FIA, IB’s Relentless Efforts: PM Shehbaz
Orders agencies to intensify operation against human traffickers
ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday lauded the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) for their successful operation in apprehending Usman Jajja, the notorious ringleader of a human trafficking gang. This significant arrest is seen as a major step toward eradicating the deeply troubling issue of human trafficking in Pakistan.
Speaking during a live televised meeting with FIA and IB officials, as well as ministers and the Interior Secretary, the Prime Minister expressed his hope that the concerted efforts by these agencies would lead to the permanent end of human trafficking.
“The black business of human trafficking has tarnished Pakistan’s image, leading to the tragic loss of lives in boat capsize incidents near Italy and Morocco,” Prime Minister Sharif stated, referring to the deaths of Pakistani nationals in tragic incidents that have cast a shadow on the country’s reputation abroad. He acknowledged the tireless work of the FIA and IB in dismantling the criminal networks involved in this illicit trade.
The Prime Minister conveyed his appreciation for the agencies’ relentless work and directed them to intensify their operations against traffickers. He emphasized the importance of continued efforts to raise the country’s standing on the global stage by tackling such heinous crimes with dedication.
As a gesture of recognition, the Prime Minister awarded appreciation shields and cash prizes of Rs1 million each to officials who played key roles in the operation. The officials involved in the operation were praised for their dedication to combating human trafficking.

Usman Jajja, the leader of the gang, was implicated in several human trafficking cases, including the tragic boat disaster in Greece last year that claimed the lives of several Pakistani nationals. During the meeting, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry and the Interior Secretary briefed the Prime Minister on the performance of the FIA and IB in tackling human trafficking.
The Director Generals of both the FIA and IB also briefed the Prime Minister on the successful arrests of key gang leaders, operators, and facilitators, underscoring their ongoing efforts to dismantle human trafficking networks operating within and outside Pakistan.
