Hollywood Director Rob Reiner & Wife Found Dead in California Home

NEW YORK: American director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele were found dead at their mansion in southern California, US media reported on Sunday. The Los Angeles mayor, Karen Bass, described the loss as heartbreaking.

Local media, including NBCLA and CNN, reported that the couple appeared to have suffered stab wounds. A family spokesperson confirmed their deaths, while Los Angeles police said detectives are investigating the incident. No suspects have been detained or publicly identified, and authorities are speaking with family members to determine the facts.

The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that a man and a woman, approximately 78 and 68 years old, were found deceased inside the home. Neighbors confirmed property records showing that Reiner and his wife lived at the upscale Brentwood residence.

Rob Reiner rose to fame as Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the 1970s sitcom All in the Family before transitioning to directing. He directed films including This is Spinal Tap (1984), When Harry Met Sally (1989), and The Princess Bride.

Mayor Karen Bass praised Reiner as an acclaimed actor, director, producer, writer, and political activist who always used his talents in service of others.
