ISLAMABAD: Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson has expressed full confidence in skipper Babar Azam, dismissing claims that the star batter is out of form.
Speaking at a post-match press conference following Pakistan’s victory against South Africa in the third ODI, Hesson said that Babar looked in good touch and handled the pressure well.
“Babar Azam is not out of form. In fact, he looked really good in the third ODI against South Africa. Unfortunately, he got run out, and that has nothing to do with form,” Hesson said. “I’m confident he will score runs in the upcoming series.”
The head coach credited captain Shaheen Afridi for leading the team to victory, praising his leadership and tactical awareness. “Shaheen deserves the credit for this win. He read the conditions well and made smart bowling changes,” Hesson added.

Speaking about the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, Hesson confirmed that some changes had been made to the squad. “Hasan Nawaz will not be part of the squad for the Sri Lanka series. He will continue playing first-class cricket to gain more experience. Abdul Samad will join the team after returning from the Hong Kong Sixes,” he said.
Pakistan will next face Sri Lanka in a bilateral series, where Babar Azam will aim to silence critics with strong performances.
