HEC launches national skills test for computing students

Qualifying students will be awarded one academic credit by their respective universities

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): The Higher Education Commission has announced that the National Skill Competency Test will be held in April and has urged universities to register their advanced-level computing students for the assessment.

According to the commission, the test aims to align academic outcomes with the rapidly evolving demands of the global technology sector.

Students who successfully pass the test will receive certificates jointly issued by the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan Software Export Board and Pakistan Software Houses Association. Successful candidates will also be included in the national talent pool.

HEC said qualifying students will be awarded one academic credit by their respective universities and will gain priority access to internships, apprenticeships and international certification opportunities.

The commission warned that universities failing to ensure student registration could face a decline in their institutional rankings.

Students currently enrolled in the 7th and 8th semesters of computing-related programs will be eligible to take the test.
