HEC launches digital degree attestation system nationwide

Pakistan moves to digital degree verification with blockchain system

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The Higher Education Commission has announced the rollout of a fully digital degree attestation system, aiming to replace manual verification processes and modernize academic credential services across Pakistan.

The initiative is being developed in collaboration with CMPak Limited and its partner Wibbow Technologies, with full implementation targeted by June 30, 2026.

Officials said the new platform will utilize Blockchain technology to ensure secure, transparent, and tamper-resistant verification of academic records.

This development marks a significant departure from the traditional system, where applicants were required to physically visit HEC offices and submit documents for verification. Under the new setup, users will be able to complete the entire process online — from application submission to tracking and receiving attested credentials.

The digital system is expected to reduce processing times, improve efficiency, and provide greater convenience, particularly for overseas Pakistanis and students seeking employment or higher education opportunities abroad.

Officials added that the initiative aligns with broader efforts to digitize public services and bring Pakistan’s education sector in line with global standards. By leveraging blockchain, the system will also help curb fraud and strengthen the authenticity of academic qualifications.

The HEC confirmed that agreements for the project have been finalized and development work is currently underway, with the system set to go live by the end of June 2026.
