Heavy Snowfall Strands Nearly One Hundred Vehicles in Tirah Valley, Rescue Operations Underway
Rescue operations have been launched after nearly one hundred vehicles became stranded on roads across Tirah Valley in Khyber district due to heavy rainfall and snowfall. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi confirmed that significant snowfall has trapped many individuals, and he is personally overseeing ongoing rescue efforts. Severe weather is hampering operations, but heavy machinery is being deployed to clear roads, while trucks carrying food and other essentials have been dispatched to the region.
Secretary of Relief Sohail Khan reported that thirty-five people have already been moved to safer locations. Relief teams from Peshawar, Nowshera, Swabi, and Mardan are present, with more than fifty personnel, sixteen ambulances, and ten trucks carrying blankets, sweaters, beds, and other supplies actively assisting the stranded individuals.
The Pakistan Army has also joined relief efforts, helping families temporarily relocating due to the snowfall and ensuring their basic needs are met. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority confirmed that road blockages continue, and rescue teams with recovery vehicles, ambulances, medical supplies, and equipment are working to restore traffic flow and extricate trapped vehicles. The PDMA has instructed all district administrations to remain alert and is closely monitoring the situation across the province.
