Heavy Rains Kill 11 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Heavy Rains in KP Leave 11 Dead, Dozens Injured

PESHAWAR: (Web Desk) – Heavy rainfall across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has claimed at least 11 lives and left dozens injured, as authorities issued flood alerts for streams overflowing in multiple districts.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), most casualties were caused by roof and wall collapses during the intense downpour that has continued since March 25. Among the deceased were 10 children and one woman, while 51 people—many of them children—sustained injuries.

In Kohat, two children lost their lives when the roof of their house collapsed in Billitang Kot village, leaving their mother and a young girl injured. Similar incidents were reported in Lakki Marwat, where two children were seriously hurt in a roof collapse in Amin Jabukhail village.

Meanwhile, Mansehra experienced a complete power outage amid the heavy rains, with the Meteorological Department forecasting more showers over the next three days. Several roof collapse incidents were also reported in Landikotal.

The PDMA reported that at least eight houses have been partially damaged in districts including Bannu and North Waziristan. Rescue teams, including Rescue 1122, are actively engaged in relief operations alongside district administrations.

Authorities have directed immediate assistance for affected families and urged residents to remain cautious. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from vulnerable areas, and follow official advisories as intermittent rainfall is expected to continue until Tuesday.

The PDMA’s Emergency Operations Centre remains active, and the public can seek help or updates through the helpline 1700.
