Heavy Rainfall Forecast Across Pakistan as Thunderstorms Continue

ISLAMABAD: (News Desk) – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted widespread rain accompanied by thunderstorms in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and northeastern Balochistan on Wednesday. According to the forecast, some areas may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, increasing the risk of urban flooding and flash floods.

Intermittent showers are expected to continue in Islamabad throughout the day, with cooler weather bringing relief from recent heat. The maximum temperature in the federal capital is likely to remain around 27°C, while humidity levels are high due to continuous rainfall.

Lahore is also expected to receive rain for a third consecutive day. The ongoing wet spell has significantly lowered temperatures, with the mercury expected to reach a maximum of 30°C. Weather conditions are likely to remain cloudy with occasional rainfall.

Meanwhile, torrential rains have caused widespread damage in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where flash floods have claimed at least 12 lives and left 15 people injured. Several houses have been damaged, roads and bridges have been affected, and the closure of the Naran Road has stranded thousands of tourists. Provincial authorities say the worst-hit districts include Peshawar, Khyber, Mardan, Mansehra, Abbottabad and Kurram.
