Hammad Azhar Resigns as PTI Punjab Acting President Amid Allegations from Azam Swati

Azhar says he would continue to serve his leader as a dedicated worker in the future.

Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab’s Acting President Hammad Azhar resigned from his position on Wednesday, following allegations made by party leader Azam Swati.

In a statement released regarding his resignation, Azhar revealed that Azam Swati had informed PTI founder Imran Khan that Aliya Hamza was facing obstructions in her work. When Imran Khan inquired about the person responsible for the hindrance, Swati reportedly named Azhar.

Azhar responded by questioning Aliya Hamza whether she had ever faced any issues from him, to which she expressed surprise. He further explained that the situation was simple to resolve, as his powers had already been transferred to four regional presidents in June of the previous year.

The PTI leader added that the organization of his constituency had taken place without his advice or consent.

Azhar also noted that he had previously resigned from his post on two occasions, but both times his resignation was rejected. However, he made it clear this time that his resignation was final, and he would no longer seek any party position.
