Hamas Upholds Ceasefire Despite Israeli Attacks in Gaza: Erdogan

The death toll in Gaza due to Israeli attacks since October 2023 has exceeded 70,000.

Istanbul: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that despite provocations by Israeli forces occupying Palestine, the resistance movement Hamas has maintained the ceasefire agreement.

Speaking at an event in Istanbul, Erdogan highlighted the heavy toll on Gaza, stating that over 16,500 students, 830 teachers, and educational staff have been killed. He added that 193 scientists and education experts, along with more than 270 journalists, lost their lives.

Erdogan emphasized that over 785,000 students in Gaza have been deprived of their right to education, while the Israeli occupation has displaced the population and restricted access to food.

He accused Israel of violating the ceasefire under various pretexts, while Hamas continues to uphold it. Erdogan stated that Turkey is making every effort to maintain the Gaza ceasefire, promote lasting peace, and provide humanitarian aid.

The Turkish president reaffirmed Turkey’s support for a two-state solution and the establishment of a free and sovereign Palestinian state.

Meanwhile, Arab media reported ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire. Israeli fighter jets struck Rafah city, Israeli forces demolished homes in Khan Yunis, and arrests of Palestinians continued in the occupied West Bank.
