Govt Prioritises Resolution of Overseas Pakistanis’ Issues in Spain: Salik Hussain

Government Takes Steps to Resolve Overseas Pakistanis’ Issues in Spain

Islamabad: (Web Desk) – The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, in coordination with the Pakistani Consulate in Barcelona, is fully aware of the issues faced by overseas Pakistanis and has declared their resolution a top government priority, Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hassan said on Tuesday.

In a statement, the minister said the government is committed to providing maximum facilitation to overseas Pakistanis. In view of growing demand for services, the Pakistani Consulate in Barcelona has abolished weekend holidays and has been providing uninterrupted services from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm for the past three days.

He said the consulate is currently processing around 200 passports daily and issuing approximately 600 authority letters for character certificates on a daily basis.

Chaudhry Salik Hassan clarified that the issuance of a new passport requires valid justification, while a new passport can only be issued on the basis of a loss report if the existing passport is still valid. He added that for the issuance of a permanent passport in Spain, it is mandatory to have previous passports or a passport loss report.

Naqvi Promises Swift Action on Overseas Property Disputes

The federal minister said the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and the Pakistani Consulate in Barcelona are in continuous coordination with the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports to explore possible relaxation in the requirement of a passport loss report. He added that the consulate has also engaged with local police authorities, who have agreed to register passport loss reports immediately.

He further said that if the loss report requirement is relaxed, the consulate will begin issuing new passports even without a loss report. The minister reiterated that the government is taking all possible measures to resolve issues faced by overseas Pakistanis and remains in constant contact with relevant authorities to ensure timely solutions.
