Governor of Punjab Challenges Vice Chancellor Appointments by Chief Minister
Tensions have risen between the Governor of Punjab and the Chief Minister over the selection of vice chancellors for various universities.
The Governor’s House has returned the summary submitted by the Chief Minister’s Office, citing objections to the proposed candidates. Sources indicate that the Chief Minister had recommended the appointment of 13 vice chancellors.
In the meantime, the Education Department has already appointed 7 vice chancellors, with the Chief Minister’s Office having the option to propose 3 more names.
Officials from the Governor’s House have raised concerns, arguing that the selection process did not sufficiently prioritize merit.
