Government Keeps Petrol Price Steady, Hikes Diesel by Rs5

New Diesel Price Set at Rs251.29 per Litre

The government, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, announced on Tuesday that petrol prices will remain unchanged, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been increased by Rs5 per litre for the upcoming two weeks.

Petroleum Prices Set to Increase from October 16 as Global Oil Rates Surge

A notification from the finance ministry stated, “The Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has calculated the consumer prices of petroleum products based on fluctuations in the international market.”

The revised prices, effective from October 16, 2024, set the cost of petrol at Rs247.03 per litre, while high-speed diesel now costs Rs251.29 per litre.

It is important to note that just a few weeks ago, on September 30, the government had reduced fuel prices. Petrol was lowered by Rs2.7 per litre, high-speed diesel by Rs3.40, and light-speed diesel by Rs1.3 per litre.
