Gohar Ali Khan PTI Confirms Sohail Afridi Will Stay as KPK Chief Minister

Gohar Ali Khan PTI Reaffirms Full Party Support for CM Sohail Afridi

KP – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – Gohar Ali Khan PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan made it clear on Friday that Sohail Afridi will remain the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said the party fully supports Afridi and there is no question of his removal.

Speaking from Peshawar, Gohar said the social media reports about Afridi losing his seat are completely false. He reminded everyone that Afridi was personally chosen by PTI founder Imran Khan, who is currently in prison, and that the chief minister is doing his job well.

Gohar also said that Afridi’s work in KPK is a positive sign for PTI’s overall performance in the province. He called the removal stories a “failed campaign” and warned that those behind it will not succeed.

He also cleared the air on party unity, saying there is no forward bloc inside PTI. The party, he said, is standing together behind its chief minister and no one can disqualify Afridi from his position.

Meanwhile, there has been some tension inside the party. Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, recently spoke out against the party’s top leadership. She was unhappy with how the chairman and secretary general handled the protest movement and raised concerns about her brother’s health in jail. She also questioned the decision to cancel PTI’s public rally that was planned for April 9 — the same date the PTI government was removed through a no-confidence vote back in 2022.

However, PTI Secretary General Barrister Salman Akram Raja pushed back on those concerns. He said the rally was not cancelled but simply moved to a later date. The reason, he explained, was to avoid clashing with international diplomatic events. He also confirmed that Imran Khan himself sent word through his lawyer, Salman Safdar, to delay the public gathering.
