Lahore – In a significant move to curb gas theft, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has intensified its crackdown, disconnecting 71 illegal gas connections across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Islamabad. The crackdown has led to the imposition of fines totaling Rs 0.91 million.
Lahore Operations:
In Lahore, SNGPL teams identified and disconnected 8 illegal gas connections. The perpetrators were fined Rs 0.51 million, and one First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against a gas pilferer, marking a strong stance against such activities.
Multan and Faisalabad:
In Multan, 12 connections were severed, with 9 due to illegal use and 3 for using compressors to manipulate gas supply. Faisalabad saw the disconnection of 2 illegal connections, with a fine of Rs 0.07 million imposed on the offenders.
Peshawar:
The most extensive operation took place in Peshawar, where 39 illegal connections were cut off. These disconnections included cases of direct and illegal gas use, resulting in fines amounting to Rs 0.07 million.
Other Regions:
– In Shiekhupura, 4 illegal connections were terminated, with fines totaling Rs 0.19 million.
– Karak witnessed the disconnection of 1 illegal connection, accompanied by a Rs 0.07 million fine.
– Bahawalpur had 2 connections severed due to illegal use and compressor manipulation.
– Sahiwal teams disconnected 2 illegal connections.
– In Gujrat, 1 illegal connection was identified and cut off.
