Four-Year-Old Dies of Malnutrition in Jacobabad
Over 100 Children Suffer From Severe Malnutrition in Jacobabad
JACOBABAD: (News Desk) – A four-year-old child has died in Jacobabad after suffering from marasmus, a severe form of malnutrition caused by prolonged deficiency of calories and essential nutrients, on Sunday.
According to reports, more than 100 children in the area are currently suffering from acute malnutrition, while 22 children are receiving treatment at different hospitals.

The situation has become more difficult for affected families as hospitals are reportedly facing a shortage of beds, leaving many patients struggling to access timely treatment.
Families of the affected children have appealed to the concerned authorities to take immediate notice of the worsening situation and ensure adequate medical facilities for malnourished children.
Marasmus can cause severe weight loss and wasting, with body weight falling significantly below the expected level for a child’s age. Other complications can include extreme weakness, stunted growth and a weakened immune system.
