Former senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan’s brother killed in Swabi

DPO Azhar stated that the suspect is believed to be a drug addict and suffers from mental instability.

SWABI: Shakeel Ahmed Khan – the elder brother of former Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief and Senator (retd) Mushtaq Ahmed Khan –  was shot dead outside his residence in Ahad Khan Kale Sheikh Jana village, police said on Sunday.

According to District Police Officer (DPO) Swabi Muhammad Azhar, the incident occurred when Shakeel Ahmed Khan attempted to intervene in a violent altercation.

The accused, identified as a neighbour, had allegedly shot and killed his own father moments earlier. As Shakeel Ahmed Khan rushed to rescue the victim, he was also targeted and fatally shot.

DPO Azhar stated that the suspect is believed to be a drug addict and suffers from mental instability.

The police have launched an investigation into the matter, while efforts are underway to apprehend the accused.

In a statement on social media, former senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan expressed profound grief over his brother’s killing, calling it an act of “worst cruelty.” He described his elder brother as his protector and a beloved member of the family.
