Flag Hoisting Ceremony Marks Pakistan Day at High Commission in Canberra
High Commissioner Praises Pakistani Diaspora’s Contributions to Australia and Pakistan
Canberra – The High Commission for Pakistan in Canberra celebrated Pakistan National Day with a flag hoisting ceremony today. The ceremony was attended by members of the Pakistani community in Australia, with High Commissioner H.E. Mr. Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri raising the national flag, followed by the rendition of Pakistan’s national anthem. Messages from the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were also read out during the event.
Speaking at the occasion, the High Commissioner emphasized the importance of 23rd March, a day that marks the historic Lahore Resolution of 1940, which laid the foundation for Pakistan’s creation. He paid tribute to the founding fathers of Pakistan, acknowledging their vision for an independent, democratic, and modern Muslim state.
Highlighting the vital role of the Pakistani diaspora, the High Commissioner referred to them as the nation’s greatest asset, praising their achievements and the goodwill they have fostered for Pakistan in Australia. He also recognized the significant contributions of overseas Pakistanis in Pakistan’s socio-economic development.

The High Commissioner further discussed various initiatives by the High Commission, aligned with the Government’s policies, aimed at facilitating the Pakistani community in Australia.
A large number of Pakistani community members attended the ceremony, and similar events were organized in other major cities across Australia to commemorate Pakistan Day.
