FIR Registered Against Lawyers for Assault on YouTuber Rajab Butt

The incident adds to Rajab Butt’s ongoing legal troubles.

KARACHI: A case has been registered against a group of lawyers for allegedly assaulting YouTuber Rajab Butt during a court hearing at the Karachi City Courts.

Rajab Butt, who was accompanied by TikToker Nadeem Naniwala, was reportedly beaten by several lawyers inside the court premises. The lawyers allegedly accused Rajab of using abusive language against them in a video.

Rajab’s counsel, Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq, who had traveled with him from Lahore, escorted the YouTuber to the Karachi Bar. Following the incident, an FIR was lodged at the City Court Police Station, naming lawyers including Riyaz Solangi, Fatah Chandio, and others as accused.

Police officials confirmed that investigations are underway. Statements of eyewitnesses are being recorded, and CCTV footage from the court premises is being reviewed.

Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq termed the incident a “brutal, unlawful, and premeditated physical assault” and demanded strict action from the Sindh Bar Council against those involved.

The incident adds to Rajab Butt’s ongoing legal troubles. In September 2025, he was booked by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) for allegedly promoting online gambling apps on social media. TikToker Nadeem Naniwala was also booked in a similar case and was arrested for using a fake vehicle registration number.

Earlier, in March 2025, Rajab was booked under blasphemy and cybercrime laws over controversy surrounding the launch of his perfume brand, which allegedly mocked Pakistan’s blasphemy law. In December 2024, he was arrested for illegally keeping a lion cub and weapons at his residence and later pleaded guilty to owning an undocumented wild animal.

A court has recently extended Rajab Butt’s interim bail in the blasphemy case until January 13.
