Business Leaders and Finance Ministry Join Hands to Build a Stronger Budget for Pakistan

Pakistan – (Web Desk) – Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb sat down — virtually — with business leaders and chamber representatives from across Pakistan, including Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar, to gather their input ahead of the upcoming budget. The wide-ranging discussion covered the country’s current economic situation, recovery measures and the road ahead.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and Revenue Division also joined the meeting, reflecting the government’s serious approach to the consultations.

Aurangzeb assured the business community that the government is committed to working hand-in-hand with the private sector, rather than going it alone. He emphasized that keeping finances in order remains a top priority, and that steps are already underway to strengthen the economy.

The Minister highlighted that Pakistan is actively working to ease external payment pressures while making sure the most vulnerable segments of society are not left behind. On a more optimistic note, he pointed to Pakistan’s growing potential to emerge as a major hub for regional trade, logistics and transshipment — a role that could open exciting new doors for the country’s economy.

He said that it was important to take advantage of these opportunities. Finance Minister also sought suggestions for the improvement and development of the economy.

During the meeting, business leaders submitted proposals to promote exports. The traders proposed to reduce business costs for increase in foreign investment.

The industrialists proposed improvement in infrastructure and ensure continuity in policies. Traders suggested the government to improve liquidity, access to new markets. The traders also emphasized on providing facilities to the industrial sector.

Bilal Azhar Kayani, Minister of State for Finance, said the government was committed to implement the reform agenda. He assured traders that the actionable proposals will be made part of the budget. Bilal Azhar Kayani said all recommendations will be carefully reviewed and the process of consultation with stakeholders will continue.
