ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – FIBA Asia has reaffirmed its full support for the development of basketball in Pakistan following a high-level delegation visit to Lahore and Islamabad.
The delegation, headed by Hagop Khajirian, held meetings with Federal Secretary for Inter-Provincial Coordination and Director General Pakistan Sports Board Mohyuddin Wani, officials of the Pakistan Olympic Association, and representatives of the Pakistan Basketball Federation.
The Pakistan Basketball Federation delegation included President Brigadier (R) Muhammad Iftikhar Mansoor, Secretary General Khalid Bashir, Senior Vice President Imtiaz Rafi Butt, and Associate Secretary General Ouj E Zahoor.
During the discussions, both sides reviewed comprehensive plans aimed at strengthening basketball infrastructure in Pakistan and restoring the country’s presence on the international basketball stage.
Speaking on the occasion, Hagop Khajirian stated that empowering national federations remains one of FIBA’s core strategic priorities and emphasized Pakistan’s importance within the Asian basketball region.

He assured complete cooperation from FIBA for the long-term promotion and development of basketball in Pakistan.
Khajirian described the meetings with Pakistan’s sports authorities as productive and encouraging, adding that several important proposals were discussed to improve the overall standard of basketball in the country.
He also appreciated the positive response from stakeholders and expressed confidence that the recent engagements would help launch a new chapter for basketball development in Pakistan.
FIBA Asia further reiterated its commitment to supporting the growth and promotion of basketball in Pakistan in collaboration with national sports institutions and the Pakistan Basketball Federation.
