FCEPL SLIC Launch Insurance for Dairy Farmers

FCEPL, SLIC Introduce Life Insurance for Dairy Farmers Nationwide

KARACHI: (News Desk)- Karachi-based FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan Limited has partnered with State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan to launch a pioneering life insurance programme aimed at securing the financial future of more than 1,500 dairy farmers and their families across Pakistan.

The initiative marks the first time in Pakistan’s dairy industry that a structured life insurance cover has been introduced for farmers at scale. Under the programme, dairy farmers enrolled in FCEPL’s network will receive financial protection in case of accidental death or permanent disability, ensuring their families remain financially supported without any cost burden on the farmers.

Officials stated that the “Dairy Farmers Insurance Programme” is part of FCEPL’s broader commitment to sustainable farming practices and improving rural livelihoods under its “Doing Dairy Right” vision. The programme focuses on strengthening farmer welfare and building long-term resilience within the dairy sector.

Speaking on the initiative, Deputy Managing Director Imran Hussain said that building a strong dairy ecosystem goes beyond milk production and must include investment in the well-being of farmers. He described the programme as a milestone in responsible business practices and farmer protection in Pakistan.

From the insurance side, Chief Actuary Faisal Mumtaz noted that the collaboration provides affordable and structured coverage to vulnerable farming households, helping reduce financial risks at the grassroots level. He added that such microinsurance models strengthen financial inclusion and support stability in the agricultural value chain.

The first phase of the programme will cover small and medium-scale dairy farmers, representing a significant step toward expanding social protection in Pakistan’s rural economy. Both organizations emphasized that the initiative is designed not only to support individuals but also to contribute to a more resilient and sustainable agricultural sector.
