Fawad Chaudhry reacted Justice Minallah’s decision in Punjab election case

Lahore: (Staff Reporter) The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry, reacted to the recent decision made by Justice Athar Minallah in the Punjab election case. Fawad Chaudhry stated that the decision recognized the principle of elections taking place within ninety (90) days.

According to the twitter, Fawad Chaudhry explained that Justice Athar Minallah’s dissenting note in the Punjab election case referred to the decision made by the Lahore High Court (LHC) regarding the election within 90 days.

In another tweet, Mr Chaudhry commented on the case of Islamabad police filing an FIR under Section 124A of the Pakistan Penal Code, which was declared unconstitutional by the LHC.

Furthermore he stated that the main concern of PTI was the election, not the judge or the bench. He questioned the government’s constant display of disrespect towards the courts.

As per details Section 124A of the Pakistan Penal Code relates to the offence of sedition, which is defined as “bringing or attempting to bring into hatred or contempt, or exciting or attempting to excite disaffection towards the government established by law in Pakistan.”

Meanwhile the section was criticized for being overly broad and was used in the past to silence political dissent.
