Fakhar Zaman appeals PSL ban over ball tampering

Fakhar Zaman files appeal against PSL suspension decision

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Fakhar Zaman has formally appealed his two-match suspension after being found guilty of a Level 3 breach under the Pakistan Super League Code of Conduct.

The ban was imposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board following a ball-tampering incident during Lahore Qalandars’ match against Karachi Kings at Gaddafi Stadium. The controversy unfolded in the closing moments of the game when umpires penalized Lahore by awarding five runs and ordering a ball change before the final over.

On-field umpires Shahid Saikat and Faisal Khan Aafreedi, along with TV umpire Asif Yaqoob and fourth umpire Tariq Rasheed, reported the incident. Fakhar denied the allegations and requested a formal hearing.

The case was reviewed by match referee Roshan Mahanama, who examined the evidence and granted the batter a personal hearing. He was charged under Article 2.14, relating to altering the condition of the ball in violation of playing conditions. A Level 3 offence carries a suspension ranging from one to two matches.
