Faizan Ahmed Faiz Completes 1,100KM Run From Lahore To Skardu

GCU Lahore student battles mountains, weather and fatigue to finish his 22-day endurance journey in Skardu

Faizan Ahmed Faiz – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – Faizan Ahmed Faiz, a student at Government College University Lahore, has done something most people would call impossible. He ran 1,100 kilometres from Lahore all the way to Skardu, and he did it in just 22 days.

Faizan is part of the Falcon Triathlon Club, a group known for pushing physical limits. But this run wasn’t just about breaking records. It carried a deeper purpose from the very first step.

His journey began in Lahore, a city known for its flat plains and busy streets. From there, he moved through Gujranwala, then Jhelum, and onward to Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Each city brought new roads, new faces, and new challenges.

As he pushed further north, the terrain changed completely. Flat land turned into hills, and hills turned into mountains. He passed through Abbottabad, then Naran, where the air grew colder and the climbs grew steeper.

One of the toughest parts of his route was Babusar Top, a high-altitude pass known for harsh weather and thin air. Many runners would think twice before attempting it. Faizan kept going.

From there, his path led him through Chilas and Raikot, areas known for rocky terrain and unpredictable conditions. Every day brought a fresh test of endurance, patience, and willpower.

Finally, on Thursday, September 17, Faizan reached Skardu. Twenty-two days after leaving Lahore, his long run came to an end in one of Pakistan’s most beautiful northern regions.

But this journey was never just about distance. Faizan dedicated his run to the martyrs of Pakistan’s Armed Forces and police. He wanted to honour the sacrifices of those who gave their lives protecting the country.

Along the way, he also spoke up about a serious issue affecting young people today: drug abuse. Faizan used his platform to raise awareness about the dangers of substance use.

He encouraged the youth he met on his route to choose healthier paths. Sports, discipline, and physical activity, he said, offer a better way forward than harmful habits.

In many towns and villages, Faizan didn’t just run past people. He stopped, talked, and connected with local communities. He used those moments to spread his message of awareness and responsibility.

This wasn’t a solo mission built only on physical strength. It was a journey built on purpose, resilience, and connection with everyday people across Pakistan.

Faizan’s run adds another achievement to his growing list of endurance challenges. It shows how far dedication and mental strength can carry a person, quite literally.

From the plains of Punjab to the mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan, Faizan Ahmed Faiz proved that grit and purpose can overcome even the harshest terrain.

His 1,100km journey stands as a reminder that sport can be more than competition. It can be a voice for causes that matter.

As Faizan rested in Skardu after 22 exhausting days, his story had already begun inspiring others across the country to think differently about strength, purpose, and giving back.
