Elon Musk Criticizes UK After Exclusion from Investment Summit
Billionaire Accuses British Government of Releasing Convicted Criminals Over Social Media Posts UK Criticizes Musk’s Controversial Comments Amid Anti-Immigration Riots

Elon Musk responded sharply to the UK on Thursday after reports emerged that he was not invited to the country’s upcoming investment summit. He accused the British government of releasing convicted paedophiles while jailing individuals over social media posts.
The BBC reported that the billionaire had been excluded from next month’s summit due to his posts on X (formerly Twitter) regarding last month’s violent, racist, anti-immigration riots in Britain.
The UK’s Department for Business and Trade and the Treasury declined to comment on either the BBC report or Musk’s reaction.
In response to the BBC story, Musk posted on X: “I don’t think anyone should visit the UK when they’re releasing convicted pedophiles while imprisoning people for social media posts.”
Earlier this month, over 1,700 prisoners were released early in England and Wales as part of an initiative by Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Labour government to ease overcrowded prisons. However, individuals convicted of sexual offenses were excluded from the release program.
Musk, who has nearly 200 million followers on X, has faced criticism from the government and others for his August posts about Britain. His posts included one claiming civil war was “inevitable” as the country grappled with riots involving far-right groups attacking hotels housing asylum seekers and mosques.
