Elections 2024: Ali Zafar Raises Concerns Over Suspension of Internet & Mobile Phone Services

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also Condemns Mobile Service Suspension on Election Day.
Islamabad: Senator and senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Senator Ali Zafar, has written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner on the day of the elections across the country, expressing concern over the suspension of internet and mobile phone services.
In the letter, it is stated that the suspension of mobile phone and internet services nationwide on the day of the elections is causing severe and serious damage to Pakistan. The Chief Election Commissioner’s statement of disassociation from the suspension of internet and mobile phone services in connection with the conduct of free and fair elections is unacceptable.

According to the Constitution of Pakistan, it is the constitutional mandate and responsibility of the Chief Election Commissioner to conduct free and fair elections. According to the Constitution, the Election Commission has the authority to instruct the government to restore mobile and internet services. I demand on behalf of PTI and the people of Pakistan that immediate action be taken to ensure the restoration of internet and mobile phone services, and negotiations are being made to resolve the issue of the legality of these suspensions on the status of the elections.

Former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari cast his vote in Naudero on Election Day and while speaking on the occasion, he said, “Today, I have come to cast my vote. People should come out and use the power of their vote. I condemn the suspension of mobile services. Mobile service should be restored immediately.”
The Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party stated that the suspension of mobile services would impact turnout and could pose difficulties in coordinating Form 45. Delays could result in losses for the people, and mobile phone services should be restored immediately.
Bilawal Bhutto emphasized, “My mandate cannot be given to anyone. People have come out to cast their votes, and the Pakistan Peoples Party will succeed.”
