ECP Reschedules Hearing for Imran Khan, Fawad Chaudhry

ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has postponed the contempt case hearing involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry until September 19.

Naeem Haider Panjuta, representing Imran Khan, appeared at the ECP to request the adjournment. He also mentioned that Fawad Chaudhry sought a similar postponement, but Sindh member Nisar Durani treated Chaudhry’s case as separate.

Shoaib Shaheen clarified that Imran Khan’s case is distinct from Fawad Chaudhry’s. Panjuta explained that they could not attend due to other case engagements.

The Advocate General informed the court that Fawad Chaudhry needs to file an application for exemption from appearance. ECP officials noted that witnesses against Imran Khan were scheduled to testify that day. The Advocate General added that Khan could appear via video link, as allowed by a high court order. However, Panjuta reported that the video link facility was unavailable due to issues with the jail administration.

As a result, the ECP has rescheduled the contempt case hearing involving Imran Khan for September 19.
