Dubai Airport Flights Disrupted After Nearby Drone Fire Kills One

Drone and missile attacks hit UAE cities. One civilian dies. Dubai Airport flights face delays after fuel tank fire.

Dubai Airport – (Web Desk) – Missile and drone attacks hit several parts of the United Arab Emirates on Monday. One drone incident caused a fuel tank to catch fire near Dubai Airport. The fire disturbed many flights for some time. In a separate attack, a missile struck near Abu Dhabi and killed one civilian.

In the eastern emirate of Fujairah, a drone attack hit oil facilities and started a large fire. Just a few days earlier, an AFP journalist had seen smoke rising from a big energy site in the same area.

These attacks happened a day after Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, said rockets were launched from the UAE toward Kharg Island. UAE officials strongly rejected this claim and said it was not true.

A Palestinian civilian lost their life near the capital, Abu Dhabi. A missile hit the person’s car on the outskirts of the city. The news was confirmed by the Abu Dhabi Media Office.

Since the conflict started, the United Arab Emirates has reported seven deaths. Five of them were civilians. Two were military personnel who died in a helicopter crash. Officials said the crash happened because of a technical fault.

Earlier in the day, officials at Dubai International Airport said flights were slowly returning to normal. The airport had faced delays after the nearby fuel tank fire caused by a drone incident. Authorities later said the fire was under control and no one was injured.

Dubai’s airport is one of the busiest places in the world for international travel. It has been targeted several times since Iran started its campaign in the Gulf. Other airports in the region have also faced similar threats.

Two people who saw the event said they noticed a thick cloud of black smoke rising near the airport around 10 in the morning. This was a few hours after the incident happened.

One traveler waiting at the airport said passengers were moved to a lower floor for safety. They stayed there for several hours before the situation became calm.

The traveler said the past few weeks had been stressful. People often heard explosions in the distance. The traveler added that the attacks continued even during the last hours before they could fly home.

Iran has launched more than 1,900 missiles and drones toward the UAE since the war began. This is the highest number of attacks Iran has carried out on any country during this conflict. Even though air defense systems stopped most of them, the attacks still disturbed travel and daily life in Dubai.

Iran has mainly targeted US assets in Gulf countries. But some attacks have also hit civilian places. These include landmarks, airports, ports, and oil facilities. The conflict started after strikes by the United States and Israel.

In Fujairah on the east coast, the drone strike on oil infrastructure caused a large fire. Authorities said no one was hurt, but teams were still working to fully control the flames.

The site is important for the country’s oil exports. A pipeline there allows the UAE to send oil through the Gulf of Oman instead of the Strait of Hormuz. That water route has been mostly closed because of tensions with Iran.

Meanwhile, journalists also heard explosions in Doha, the capital of Qatar. A spokesman from Qatar’s foreign ministry, Majed al-Ansari, said talks with Iran can only happen if Tehran stops its attacks in the Gulf.

At the same time, Saudi Arabia said its defense forces had intercepted more than 60 drones since midnight on Monday in the eastern part of the country.
