Murree (News Desk) – District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanveer Sapra, has issued comprehensive safety guidelines for tourists following the season’s first snowfall and a significant surge in visitors to the hill station.

He stated that while enjoying Murree’s scenic beauty and snowfall is the right of every tourist, ensuring their safety and a smooth journey remains the top priority of Murree Police. In view of the heavy influx of tourists over the weekend—and the continued presence of visitors in the city—police across the district have been placed on high alert.

DPO Murree is personally supervising all security and traffic arrangements and has directed police personnel to assist tourists with courtesy, cooperation, and hospitality. To manage traffic flow, the existing traffic plan has been further strengthened.

Highlighting the risks associated with snowfall, Dr. Sapra warned that slippery roads pose serious dangers and urged motorists to use snow chains on their vehicle tires, avoid unnecessary overtaking, and strictly follow traffic instructions. He emphasized that roadside parking for photography causes severe traffic congestion and instructed tourists to use only designated parking areas.

The DPO also advised travelers to ensure their vehicles are in proper mechanical condition before entering hilly areas, particularly checking heaters, windscreen wipers, headlights, and brake systems. Tourists were urged to keep sufficient fuel in their vehicles to avoid inconvenience during traffic blockages.

Addressing health and safety concerns, Dr. Sapra advised special care for children and elderly passengers and recommended keeping vehicle windows slightly open to prevent oxygen deficiency during prolonged travel.

In his concluding message, the DPO urged citizens to immediately report any emergency, accident, or suspicious activity by calling Police Helpline 15 or contacting officers at nearby police check posts. He reaffirmed that Murree Police remain fully vigilant and committed to ensuring the safety and guidance of all visitors throughout their stay.
