Washington: Newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump has lost an appeal in a defamation case, resulting in a $5 million fine. According to news agencies, the Manhattan federal court upheld the defamation ruling, which requires Trump to pay the hefty sum.

The defamation case dates back to 1996 when an American journalist woman filed a lawsuit against Trump. In 2022, Trump dismissed the allegations as false on social media.
