CTD Announces Head Money for 14 Terrorists Involved in Kurram Violence
Peshawar, 1 March 2025: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has announced head money ranging from Rs3 million to Rs30 million for 14 terrorists allegedly involved in the ongoing violence in Kurram district. The CTD claims these individuals played a significant role in the violent clashes that have plagued the region, particularly since November 2024.
The violence in Kurram has resulted in the deaths of over 150 people in recent months, with the latest outbreak of violence beginning when two convoys, traveling under police escort, were ambushed in November, leaving 40 dead. According to the CTD, the accused are responsible for assimilating over 200 people into militant activities and are linked to the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
In a statement issued on Saturday, the CTD revealed the photographs and names of the 14 accused terrorists, offering monetary rewards for credible information leading to their capture. The department emphasized that the terrorists are involved in a range of criminal activities, including looting, arson, and the killing of women and children, and have been active in fueling sectarian violence in the Kurram district.
A series of handout pictures, released by the CTD, shows the photographs of the accused, highlighting their involvement in the recent disturbances. The CTD urged citizens to come forward with information, ensuring that any valuable leads would be rewarded.
Despite the violent setbacks, the region has seen some efforts to restore peace. In January, Boshehra’s Assistant Commissioner was injured in an attack, but subsequent law enforcement operations have helped bring stability to the region. Kurram, which had been cut off from the rest of the country for months, is now receiving essential supplies, and further peace measures, including the demolition of tribal bunkers, have been implemented.

Additionally, compensation efforts for the families of those affected by the violence are ongoing. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) District Coordinator, Shiraz Bacha, confirmed that compensation cheques are being distributed to the families of victims from the Bagan incident and the passenger vehicle attacks. So far, Rs60 million has been distributed to the families of victims, and the data collection process continues for other affected individuals.
Efforts to dismantle militant infrastructure continue, with 80 bunkers destroyed as part of the peace-building measures.
