Crackdown on Gas Theft: SNGPL Takes Decisive Action, Disconnects 124 Connections

Lahore: In a robust move against gas pilferage, the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has intensified its crackdown, disconnecting 124 connections across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad. The crackdown reflects the company’s unwavering commitment to curbing illegal gas usage and ensuring fair distribution.
In Lahore, the regional team of SNGPL took decisive action by disconnecting 9 connections involved in the unauthorized use of gas. Additionally, a fine of Rs. 1.26 million was imposed on gas pilferers, sending a strong message against such illegal activities.
Similar operations were conducted in other regions, with Multan witnessing the disconnection of 7 connections due to illegal usage and 2 more due to compressor usage. Peshawar and Karak saw a significant crackdown, with 81 connections disconnected for direct and illegal gas usage, resulting in a fine of Rs. 4.4 million. Furthermore, 4 FIRs were lodged against gas thieves.
In Rawalpindi, 2 connections were disconnected for unauthorized gas usage, with a fine of Rs. 0.10 million imposed. Sahiwal witnessed the disconnection of one connection due to illegal gas usage. Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Mardan, Sargodha, and Gujrat also saw proactive measures taken against gas theft, resulting in the disconnection of multiple connections and imposition of fines.
Overall, the crackdown resulted in a total fine of Rs. 43.7 million being imposed on gas pilferers, underlining the severity of consequences for those engaging in illegal activities.
