CPPA Proposes 31 Paisas Per Unit Decrease for July Under Fuel Price Adjustment, Nepra to Review

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has requested the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) to lower the per-unit price of electricity for July.

CPPA is proposing a 31 paisas per unit reduction through the fuel price adjustment mechanism. If approved, this adjustment would be reflected in consumers’ electricity bills for the month, offering some relief. The CPPA attributed the proposed reduction to fluctuations in fuel prices during July.

Nawaz to offer Rs14 per unit reduction in electricity bills

Nepra is set to review the CPPA’s request in a hearing scheduled for August 28. The outcome of this hearing will decide whether consumers will benefit from the proposed tariff reduction.

If granted, this decrease could help alleviate some financial pressure on consumers amid rising living and energy costs. The final approval, however, depends on Nepra’s decision following the hearing.
