Court sends accused on five-day remand after confession in Samiya Hijab abduction case

ISLAMABAD: The suspect in the TikToker Samiya Hijab kidnapping case has confessed to the crime in court and was handed over to police for a five-day physical remand.

Islamabad Police presented the suspect Hassan Zahid in the District and Sessions Courts in the case of the alleged kidnapping and extortion of a social media influencer.

Judicial Magistrate Yasir Mahmood Chaudhry asked the accused about the threats and why he kidnapped her.  “While confessing the crime, the accused said, Sir! I made a mistake.”

As per details, the police requested an 8-day physical remand of the accused, arguing that they have to recover the vehicle, pistol, and cash from the accused.

The court handed over the accused to the police on a 5-day physical remand.

 

Earlier on Monday, police arrested Hassan Zahid after the victim filed her complaint with the federal capital police at Shalimar Police Station and a video statement.

The police had lodged the FIR under Section 354, 365, 392, 500, 509, and 511 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

In her statement, she said, “The suspect attempted to forcibly abduct me from my house while I was returning his gifts.”

“This amounts to abduction, harassment, and assault under the law. For evidence, I have CCTV footage,” she was quoted as saying in the FIR.
