LAHORE – Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has issued firm directives for the timely completion of the Lahore Development Plan, setting a clear deadline of June 30 for major urban development projects. During a high-level review meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for monthly timelines and strict, transparent monitoring to ensure efficiency and accountability.
CM Maryam conducted a visual inspection of ongoing works and instructed authorities to complete the plan without further delay. The Lahore Development Plan includes the construction and rehabilitation of 3,705 streets under the Lahore Municipal Corporation. Additionally, 230 streets linked to WASA Lahore and 1,573 streets under WASA Works will be overhauled. Areas such as Allama Iqbal, Aziz Bhatti, and Wagah Towns are key focuses in this phase.
Expressing concern over project delays, the CM reaffirmed her commitment to public welfare, stating, “Delay in completing development schemes impacts daily life. I consider myself accountable to the people and cannot tolerate any difficulties for them.”
In a separate development, Maryam Nawaz approved Punjab’s first ‘Sahulat-on-the-Go bazaars’ initiative. The CM chaired a briefing and directed the establishment of a pilot project across 14 locations in Lahore, utilizing government land along roadsides. The project aims to enhance public convenience, with 816 stalls already set up across the city. The pilot is expected to be completed within four months.
