CM Maryam Nawaz Announces Rs. 1 Million Aid Per Family for Flood Victims in Hafizabad & Pindi Bhattian

CM Maryam Praised as Punjab Govt Leads Swift Relief for Affected Families

HAFIZABAD (Asif Iqbal) – Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has announced a significant relief package for families affected by recent heavy rains and flash floods in Hafizabad and Pindi Bhattian. Under the package, each affected family will receive financial assistance of Rs. 1 million.

The announcement was made by Punjab’s Senior Minister, Maryam Aurangzeb, during her visit to the flood-hit areas, where she met with the victims and assured them of the government’s full support. She was accompanied by senior PML-N leader and MPA Saira Afzal Tarar.

Maryam Aurangzeb emphasized that CM Maryam Nawaz is personally overseeing the relief operations and has instructed that all compensations must be disbursed transparently and swiftly to enable the affected families to resume normal life as soon as possible. She further assured that compensation cheques will be distributed promptly.

As per the Chief Minister’s special directives, the Senior Minister conducted an emergency visit to various flood-affected areas in Hafizabad. She met with residents, listened to their concerns, and issued on-the-spot directives to ensure immediate resolution of issues. The Punjab government also distributed one-month food rations to hundreds of victims during the visit.

The Minister was joined by CM’s Coordinator and MNA Saira Afzal Tarar, Gujranwala Commissioner Syed Naveed Haider Shirazi, Hafizabad Deputy Commissioner Abdul Razzaq, and MPAs Mian Shahid Hussain Bhatti and Aun Intsar Bhatti. The minister also inspected relief and emergency camps set up by District Headquarters Hospital, Rescue 1122, Livestock, Health and Municipal departments, instructing all relevant agencies to remain on high alert for any emergent situation.

Deputy Commissioner Abdul Razzaq briefed the minister in detail on the aftermath of the recent rains, the nature of damages, and ongoing rescue and rehabilitation efforts by the district administration. He highlighted inter-departmental coordination, resource mobilization, and relief mechanisms at the local level.

Later, a high-level meeting was convened at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, chaired by the Senior Minister. The meeting reviewed the performance of all district departments, public relief efforts, CM’s public initiatives, flood damages, and upcoming development and rehabilitation plans. Maryam Aurangzeb directed immediate mapping of Hafizabad and Pindi Bhattian’s drainage systems to enhance their capacity, ensuring strict adherence to implementation timelines.

She instructed all concerned departments, including irrigation, drainage, and district administration, to prepare feasibility reports for de-silting of main drains to avoid such situations in the future. She also announced that Hafizabad has been included in the Punjab Development Program, and all protective and development projects must be completed before the next monsoon season.

Special instructions were issued to the Gujranwala Commissioner and Hafizabad Deputy Commissioner to prioritize full rehabilitation of the affected families. Victims expressed satisfaction with the timely relief efforts and lauded the presence and leadership of the Punjab government on the ground, chanting emotional slogans in support of CM Maryam Nawaz.

Minister Aurangzeb reiterated that the Punjab government will not leave any affected family alone. “All damages will be compensated, and all available resources will be utilized to ensure the complete rehabilitation of every victim,” she asserted.
