Christians Celebrate Christmas in Pakistan and Around the World

In Bethlehem, Palestine, large gatherings of worshippers were seen at the historic Church of the Nativity.

ISLAMABAD: Christians across Pakistan and around the world are celebrating the festival of Christmas today with religious devotion and joy.

As Christmas Eve arrived, special prayers began in churches worldwide. In Pakistan, special services are being held in churches in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, and other cities, where prayers are being offered for the country’s security, prosperity, and development.

Meanwhile, cities including Washington, London, Paris, Moscow, Dubai, and others are illuminated with colorful Christmas decorations. Special prayers were also held in Vatican City, where Pope Leo spoke about the birth of Jesus Christ and emphasized that ignoring the poor and strangers is equivalent to rejecting God.

Prime Minister’s Message

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended warm Christmas greetings to the Christian community, praising them as an active, positive, and peaceful part of Pakistani society. He expressed hope that Christmas would bring peace, stability, and prosperity for the Christian community and the country.

The prime minister said that Christmas carries a universal message of love, peace, tolerance, and goodwill for all humanity. He lauded the Christian community’s contributions to Pakistan’s social and economic development and acknowledged their sacrifices alongside the nation in the fight against terrorism.

He further appreciated the community’s valuable services in education, healthcare, and other sectors, stating that the government remains committed to ensuring equal rights, freedoms, and opportunities for professional growth for all citizens without discrimination.
