China Urges Afghanistan and Pakistan to Resolve Tensions Through Talks
China calls on Pakistan and Afghanistan to stay calm and solve tensions through talks after rising conflict near Kandahar.
Pak Afghan Clash – (Web Desk) – China has asked Afghanistan and Pakistan to solve their disputes through talks instead of force. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi shared this message during a phone call with Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi. The Chinese foreign ministry shared details of the call in a statement on Friday.
Wang Yi advised both sides to stay calm and show restraint. He encouraged them to meet face to face as soon as possible and begin direct talks. He also called for an immediate ceasefire so tensions can ease.
He said using more force will only make the situation worse. It could raise tensions and create more problems between the two countries. Wang stressed that open dialogue is the best way to solve differences.
The ministry’s statement came after Pakistan on Friday bombed the fuel depot of private airline Kam Air near Afghanistan’s Kandahar airport, stepping up the neighbors’ worst conflict in years, despite China’s efforts to mediate.
Wang and Muttaqi also exchanged views on the situation in Iran, the statement said.

Wang told Muttaqi, according to the statement, that Beijing is willing to work with the international community, including Afghanistan, to bring peace to Iran.
