Chief Justice Questions Allocation of Funds: Are People Benefitting or Just Salaries?

The Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa along with Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail and Justice Naqeebullah Achakzai, held a hearing in Karachi regarding the dismissal request of employees from the Hyderabad Development Authority. The applicant argued that they were regular employees, not contractual workers.

Expressing concern over the increasing number of government employees, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa questioned the government’s priorities, highlighting the apparent focus on hiring personnel rather than serving the public. He emphasized the need for transparency in government actions and questioned the legality of appointments made under the President and Governor’s package.

The lawyer representing the applicants informed the court that recruitments were made during the tenure of former President General Pervez Musharraf under a specific package. In response, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa remarked that foundations built on flawed principles are destined to fail.
He further emphasized the importance of considering the concerns of the province’s residents, urging a focus on addressing their needs rather than solely prioritizing government employment. The court rejected the dismissal request of Hyderabad Development Authority employees.
