Chapman, Shaheen Shine in ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings Rise
Dipendra Singh Airee from Nepal has entered the top 50 in the Men’s T20I Batting Rankings.
ISLAMABAD: In a recent update to the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings, New Zealand’s Mark Chapman and Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi have seen significant climbs after their outstanding performances in the ongoing five-match series, which currently stands level at 1-1 after three matches.
Chapman’s remarkable unbeaten 87 off just 42 balls in the third match propelled him 12 places up to the 33rd position in the latest rankings. On the other hand, Shaheen Shah Afridi’s impressive three-wicket haul for 13 runs in the second match saw him rise two places to secure the 17th position.
Tim Seifert, another talented batter from New Zealand, has also experienced an upward movement in the rankings, climbing from 27th to 24th place. Meanwhile, leg-spinner Ish Sodhi has made notable progress, advancing from 23rd to the 18th position.
In another exciting development, Dipendra Singh Airee from Nepal has entered the top 50 in the Men’s T20I Batting Rankings. His unbeaten knock of 44 runs against Hong Kong in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Men’s Premier Cup has earned him the prestigious spot. Airee joins the ranks of other Nepali players like Kushal Bhurtel, Paras Khadka, and Rohit Paudel, who have previously made their mark in the top 50.

Airee’s remarkable 11th position in the all-rounders’ rankings is a historic achievement for Nepal, highlighting the country’s growing prowess in international cricket. Additionally, Hong Kong’s Anshuman Rath and the United Arab Emirates’ Alishan Sharafu have also made significant strides in the rankings, showcasing the competitive spirit and talent in the ACC Men’s Premier Cup.

Some standout initiatives include Nigeria Cricket Federation’s Under-17 Cricket Championship, which provides opportunities for young boys and girls to compete in the sport. Mexico Cricket Association’s innovative program bringing cricket to prisons in Mexico City and Cricket PNG’s Malolo Cricket initiative for youth have also been recognized for their impact.
In the women’s cricket category, Cricket Belgium’s efforts to expand their women’s cricket infrastructure and Costa Rica Cricket Federation’s collaboration with the National Institute for Women stood out. Additionally, Oman Cricket’s ‘Cricket4Her’ program aims to redefine women’s cricket in the country through tournaments and skill development.
On the field, regional winners include Sierra Leone, Canada, and the Netherlands for their outstanding performances in men’s cricket, while Sierra Leone, Argentina, and Scotland have been recognized for their achievements in women’s cricket.
In the digital fan engagement category, Cricket Association of Nepal, Cricket Namibia, and Bermuda Cricket Board have been acknowledged for their efforts to engage fans through social media and digital platforms.
Lastly, projects like Cricket Bahrain’s community engagement initiatives, Mexico Cricket Association’s Street Child project, and Samoa Cricket’s ‘Healthy Nanas’ program have been celebrated for their positive social impact.
These regional winners will now compete for global recognition, with the ICC set to announce the global winners in each category later this year. The ICC Development Awards continue to celebrate cricket’s global growth and impact, highlighting the sport’s ability to bring communities together and create positive change around the world.
